Spanish: Regimiento de Guadalajara

This is the first of two Spanish units that will join my sole Kennington regiment to make up a Brigade. I chose their regimental title as they appear in the order of battle for a game I have planned.

These figures were all bought second hand unpainted, apart from the officer which I converted using a French line figure with a British rifleman head. The shako ribbons and his sash are foil additions. I sacrificed a charging infantryman to make the flag bearer. The flag is hand painted on wine bottle foil with a fuse wire staff and foil ribbons.

Although the figures were listed as Clayton produced Hinton Hunts, the moulding plug marks on the bases appear to conform to vintage castings. They are SN4, infantryman charging & SN5, infantryman firing.

I decided that this regiment would have official issue blue trousers rather than brown or grey which was often used. The officer is based on the illustration in Haythornwaite's "Uniforms of the Peninsula War" and therefore has brown breeches.

Ready for action

I've stuck to my usual 6 figure bases with one light and one grenadier

I'm pleased I chose the official blue uniform trousers but the next off the production line will probably be brown.

Hopefully a sight that will be repeated when they get into action

The light company to the fore

Don't worry men, reinforcements are on the way (hopefully before Christmas).
